The Deal At A Glance

Link: Dusit Hotels
Details: Enter code “promoindust” into Corporate/Promotion Code box
Book by: Ongoing
Eligibility: For Travel Agents – and staff ID is required upon check-in for verification
Potential Savings: Up to 50%
Ease of use: Very simple with excellent availability

Further Information

Originally a Thai focussed chain, Dusit Hotels have slowly extended their reach further afield into a range of business and leisure hotels throughout Asia and the Middle East as well as the Maldives.

Their original Bangkok Hotel, the Dusit Thani, has a great location in central Bangkok next to Lumpini Park, and it’s worth checking out their 4* brand (Royal Princess) and the boutique styled d2 hotels for great value.

Most importantly to us, they offer a 50% discount on their properties for those in the travel industry, on what are already great valued luxury hotels.

A quick check on availability finds a wide range of dates for the Dusit Thani at 50% off (coming in about £50). It is worth noting that the rates exclude taxes, another tip is to look for Club Room upgrades as these give some great deals on breakfast.

As for the Maldives, they  offer 50% off Beach Villas and Water Villas with Pools throughout most dates (even Christmas & New Year) – but this is an uber-luxury resort – with prices ranging upwards of $500 and going into four-figures in peak season. You should take into account that the Industry rates are Room Only – so food & drink will also need to be budgeted for.

Starwood Hotels – Travel Industry Discount Rates

November 1, 2018 By Anna 2 Comments

Deal At A Glance

Link:  www.spg.com/pro to join
Details: You must join, log-in, complete the first learning module, then find the ‘PROLEARNING’ link at the bottom, then you will find the ‘Book Starpro Rates link’ – or if you are logged in – just click here
Book by:  Ongoing
Eligibility: Must present proper identification as detailed above when booking and upon check-in
Potential savings: 40% is common
Ease of use: Fairly straightforward once you have registered and jumped through the initial hoops and know where to find the link…
Note: There is a separate ‘Travel Professional Rate’, however this serves up smaller discounts as outlined below.

Further Information

One of our most requested hotel chains is Starwood – perhaps not by name, but by one of the myriad of largely luxury brands they own.

You’ll probably know their brands – Sheraton, Westin, The Luxury Collection, the luxury boutique W Hotels brand, St. Regis, Le Méridien and an upcoming range of mid-priced properties such as Aloft, Four Points by Sheraton and the first environmentally friendly chain – Element by Westin.

With 25% of the 1,200 hotels under the Starwood brand being in the United States, they are a great place to explore Travel Industry rates – which fortunately are relative straightforward to find – once you’ve signed up.

Starwood operates a SPG Pro Programme where you are expected to join Starwoods Frequent Traveller Programme. You also (as per most US Centric Programmes) expected to enter an IATA/TIDS/ARC/TRUE/CLIA number. With the majority of these being irrelevant to us in the UK – enter your IATA, or some people have entered that of their Consolidators if they do not have their own. Always carry ID on check-in (business cards / letter of employment on headed notepaper).

After signing up – head to the Pro Learning Section where you must pass the straightforward Loyalty and Brands section – this is essential to get access to StarPro rates.

And it’s well worth it. For example – we found the W Hotel in Leicester Square at a 40% saving.

It should also be mentioned that Starwood also offers a secondary ‘Travel Professional Rate’, but this was vastly inferior in price and availability compared to the Star Pro rates in every case we examined – so we recommend you spend a bit more time going through the Starwood training programme to access the better rates.

Details: Click Options, and enter ‘TI’ in the IATA / Agent box (NOT the Promo Code box)
Book By: Ongoing.
Eligibility: A valid Airline or Travel Industry ID should be presented upon check-in to avail this special rate.
Potential Savings: We found around 35% was common
Ease of Use: Rotana hotels typically exclude taxes & charges (which vary, but tend to be around 20%). Note in Dubai a tourism fee of about AED 15 per night is payable locally.

Further Information

Rotana operate throughout the Middle East / Arabian Gulf, but predominantly in Dubai

They have hotels in some of the more ‘untouristy’ locations but also cater for more mainstream destinations – such as Qatar, Egypt and 15 hotels in the ever popular Dubai.

We ran some searches on Dubai to see what level of discount is possible. At the Amwaj Rotana in (not on) Jumeirah Beach we found healthy 33% savings.

For the Rose Rayhaan, the second tallest hotel in the world at 333 metres, we saw 35% available as a discount.
