Starwood Hotels – Travel Industry Discount Rates

November 1, 2018 By Anna 2 Comments

Deal At A Glance

Link:  www.spg.com/pro to join
Details: You must join, log-in, complete the first learning module, then find the ‘PROLEARNING’ link at the bottom, then you will find the ‘Book Starpro Rates link’ – or if you are logged in – just click here
Book by:  Ongoing
Eligibility: Must present proper identification as detailed above when booking and upon check-in
Potential savings: 40% is common
Ease of use: Fairly straightforward once you have registered and jumped through the initial hoops and know where to find the link…
Note: There is a separate ‘Travel Professional Rate’, however this serves up smaller discounts as outlined below.

Further Information

One of our most requested hotel chains is Starwood – perhaps not by name, but by one of the myriad of largely luxury brands they own.

You’ll probably know their brands – Sheraton, Westin, The Luxury Collection, the luxury boutique W Hotels brand, St. Regis, Le Méridien and an upcoming range of mid-priced properties such as Aloft, Four Points by Sheraton and the first environmentally friendly chain – Element by Westin.

With 25% of the 1,200 hotels under the Starwood brand being in the United States, they are a great place to explore Travel Industry rates – which fortunately are relative straightforward to find – once you’ve signed up.

Starwood operates a SPG Pro Programme where you are expected to join Starwoods Frequent Traveller Programme. You also (as per most US Centric Programmes) expected to enter an IATA/TIDS/ARC/TRUE/CLIA number. With the majority of these being irrelevant to us in the UK – enter your IATA, or some people have entered that of their Consolidators if they do not have their own. Always carry ID on check-in (business cards / letter of employment on headed notepaper).

After signing up – head to the Pro Learning Section where you must pass the straightforward Loyalty and Brands section – this is essential to get access to StarPro rates.

And it’s well worth it. For example – we found the W Hotel in Leicester Square at a 40% saving.

It should also be mentioned that Starwood also offers a secondary ‘Travel Professional Rate’, but this was vastly inferior in price and availability compared to the Star Pro rates in every case we examined – so we recommend you spend a bit more time going through the Starwood training programme to access the better rates.

Anantara Hotels – Travel Industry Discount Information

The Deal At A Glance

Link: Anantara Hotels
Details: Enter ‘TIR’ in the Promotion Code Box
Book By: Ongoing
Eligibility: Valid for travel agents or airline employees. ID can and will be requested at check-in.
Ease Of Use: Very easy, how every Travel Industry Rate should be!

Further Details

We love Anantara Hotels, whether you chose a villa or suite and in any location, the feel is always luxurious and relaxed.

Anantara (and it’s other brands including Avani) have a number of hotels in Thailand – from all Pool Villa Anantara Rasananda on Koh Phangan to great family accommodation at the Anantara Baan Rajprasong in Bangkok. They also have fantastic hotels in other countries – from Bali to Mozambique!

What we also love is how easy it is to take advantage of their generous offers available to travel industry employees.

You simply go to their site, search for a location and dates and then apply the code in the promotions box. Job done.

We recommend having two tabs open, put the promotion code in one and then do the exact same search only without the code, this is the easiest way to get a sense of how much you are saving. It is not uncommon to find savings of well beyond 30%.

Please let us know how you get on with this discount in the comments section of this page – what’s your favourite Anantara getaway?

Further Information:

We are hopeful OMNI Hotels we bring back their popular travel industry discount rates, not least because generous discounts were available at their luxury hotels.

Not sure who OMNI are? They are a large luxury hotel brand based in the U.S.

In fact of their 60 hotels – only 4 are not U.S based – 1 in Quebec, 1 in Ontario, and what may be of interest – 2 in Cancun. The hotels are largely Southern focussed – as they are based out of Texas.

Rather than mundane business hotels, OMNI have a focus on ‘themes’, these including Golf, Beach, Spa, Ski and Tennis – so make for great destination hotels.

Amari Hotels, The Mosaic Collection and Onyx Hospitality – Travel Industry Discounts

November 1, 2018 By Anna Leave a Comment

The Onyx Hospitality Group includes a number of hotel brands, namely Amari Hotels, OZO, Shama, YOO Collection, YOO 2, The Mosaic Collection and Breeze Spar.

We now have a deal for Amari Hotels which you can read about, or the details are below.

For the rest of the hotel brands within the group, the best bet is to head to the vanilla special offers page, though discounts are more in the range of 10 to 15% than 50%.

Deal At A Glance:

(Applies to Amari Hotels)

Link: Amari Hotels
Details: Head to the link above and enter ‘industry’ in the promo code box. Then just search for hotels, dates etc as normal. When the results came through, we then ordered by price which made the travel industry rate more prominent, bringing it to the top of the page.
Book By: Ongoing, the rates we saw also included .
Eligibility: Valid for travel agents or airline employees. ID can be requested at check-in.
Potential Savings: Amari have advertised savings of up to 50%. The first search we tried brought up a 35% saving spot good discounts clearly available.

Millennium Hotels – Travel Industry Discounts

November 1, 2018 By Anna Leave a Comment

Deal At A Glance

Link: Millennium Corporate
Details: Register on their scheme then mail or call for details of any offers
Book by: Ongoing
Eligibility: Proof of travel industry employment likely to be required – check when calling or emailing to discuss booking.

Further Information

Millennium Hotels do not make it easy to find travel industry discounts, and the process of booking is unwieldy in these days of instant online bookings.

To enjoy any savings, or even just to earn loyalty points to use in future, you will need to join their corporate programme.

After that, you then email or call to make a booking, so you will be discussing any discounts in this manner rather than being able to search online to find deals.

You can also ave 10% by signing up to their frequent traveller programme.

In our opinion, the best approach might be to find deals at other hotels in your chosen destination and then get in touch with Marriott to see what they can do relative to their competition.

If they introduce a more travel industry friendly system we will, of course, mention it here and on our Facebook and Twitter channels.

IHG Hotel Group – Travel Industry Discounts on 5,000 global hotels

October 20, 2018 By Anna Leave a Comment

Deal At A Glance

Link:  IHG Agent Website
Details: Once registered there is a separate Travel Industry part of the website where you can easily check available industry rates
Book by:
Ongoing
Eligibility: Travel Industry Only rates – proof of employment (business card, or letter on your company letterhead) required.
Potential savings: 50%
Ease of use: Once you’ve gone through the process of registering it’s very simple.

Further Information

The IHG (Intercontinental Hotel Group) have close to 5,000 hotels in more than 100 countries, given they also offer generous discounts to those of us employed in the travel industry they are one of the hotel groups you need to check out before booking any trip.

Their brands include: Candlewood Suites, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Holiday Inn Express, Hotel Indigo, InterContinental, Staybridge Suites with a couple of luxury hotel brands in the pipeline.

Most importantly to us – they have excellent availability of travel industry discounts. As you expect though, they do have strict requirements – and require you to pre-register, and provide proof of ID at check-in.

One of the most important things to note is that IHG Industry Rates can be cancelled without penalty as long as it is cancelled by 6pm on the day of arrival – giving you greater flexibility to pre-book a couple of weekend breaks when you spot good rates. You even get IHG Reward Club Points (in almost all other situations you will never get loyalty points for industry rates).

The only thing to note is that you need to book at least 24 hours in advance. When you register you are asked for “IATA, CLIA, TIDS, TRUE, OSSN or similar number” – which implies that your ATOL or ABTA number can be used.

Rates are a ‘minimum of 35% off’ – but we’ve found plenty of hotels offering 50% discounts.
