Well, we’d all prefer to be jetting off somewhere hot, but let’s face – except for weekends away, we’re unlikely to let out the office in January!

If you do need to escape – then Travelodge have released a 30% off code for stays from Sat 02 January to Thursday 11 Feb 2016.

Yes, there are some exclusions and blackouts, but availability seemed to be pretty good when we were searching – and found plenty of £24 hotel nights that discounted to £16.80.

Last Minute Offers – Accor hotels this weekend from £25

Accor hotels (Mercure, Pullman, Ibis & Novotel) has been running secret ‘Happy Monday’ offers that actually run on Tuesdays as well, for offers at a variety of their hotels across the UK & Dublin for stays the same weekend (Friday, Saturday & Sundays) from £25 – £40 per room per night (room only).

Availability is exceptional – this Friday 25 hotels in London have offers – rising to 35 this Sunday night. On Saturday you can book a number of London Ibis Hotels (including the ones at Excel, Gatwick, Heathrow and Luton Airports) for £25. Other notable deals include the Mercure Brighton Seafront Hotel from £40 (notable as Brighton hotels often have a minimum stay – not so with this offer). You are supposed to be a subscriber to their newsletter, or a member of Le ClubAccor – which is worth joining anyway, but you can access the availability and book without this.

Last minute Bali – 5* Sofitel Nusa Dua

Just a quick offer that has popped up – but excellent value for those of you with last minute holiday time to use up. The beachfront 5* Sofitel Nusa Dua in Bali is offering trade rates of Indonesia Rupiah 1,300,000 a night – which equates to about £65. This is 30%-60% cheaper than what the hotel is offering direct on their website.

For flights, we notice www.touchdown.co.uk has an offer with Malaysia Airlines for £399 to Kuala Lumpur – check with them for extensions to Bali, or look at Air Asia for cheap add-ons.

Or have a scour with Skyscanner – they let you search by the entire month with a variety of departure airports – currently showing Bali from £430 on Garuda Indonesia (an excellent airline onboard) from London Gatwick. Tip – Skyscanner can be excellent for searching for cheap long haul flights for your clients too before booking in your GDS – it’s got great ‘flexible’ search tools.

Travelodge is running a 4 day Hotel offer with 15% off stay for travel from 3rd – 29th December.

This is a great opportunity if you’re planning a trip to London for pre-Christmas shopping or to visit relatives!

Trip Report – Holiday Inn Brussels–Schuman

As we’ve just added details of Travel Industry Discounts for IHG, we thought it may be pertinent to offer a trip report of one of their hotels we recently took advantage of a great rate at – the Holiday Inn Brussels–Schuman.

Brussels was not necessarily a destination of choice, more a case that a spare non-working weekend popped up, so thought it would be good to test some of the offers out there.

However, with last minute Eurostar spaces non-existent it came down to finding any destination that had availability using some spare Avios (or the newish term for BA Airmiles). Having recently visited Paris and Amsterdam, the two other options with plenty of availability a promise of frites and beer had us booking up Belgium’s capital. And despite warnings of impending tedium – it turned out to be a fantastic stay memorable of course for the copious frites and frambois beer.

Anyway, with flights booked, and Brussels being primarily a business hub, there were no shortage of last minute industry discounted hotels. However, we plumped for the Holiday Inn Brussels – Schuman – for easy access to the metro, and so it would be re-assuredly quiet over the weekend being in the ‘EU District’ – and with a lovely range of local bars and restaurants nearby.

Industry rates rarely include breakfast (which would have been an outrageous E15 a night each), but for the rooms rates were 30% off the best available rates (we paid €60 a night) – for a lovely, large and newly renovated room. The hotel lift wasn’t working for renovation (we’re been prepared having seen a couple of recent Trip Advisor reviews) – but we were on the 1st floor so happy with this.

The area was *deathly* quiet at the weekend, but that was ideal – you could be in the centre of town in under 20 minutes, and yet it was a short stroll to the Cinquantenaire for a lovely Sunday morning walk.

Heartily recommend – especially seeing as outside of EU summits there seem to be consistent availability of industry rates.

Limited time London Hotel Offers

London is a difficult place to get really good hotels, but here are two great options.

Travelodge – 20% off London stays for bookings until 11th October
As it says in the headline! These are not exclusive for Travel Industry staff, but can often be the cheapest with locations throughout London.

New Hilton London Bankside
Hilton’s new London Bankside hotel opens October 12th – great location for the Tate Modern and Borough Market – and as a result has great Travel Agent availability. Normally Hilton availability is sketchy – or limited to Sundays only. The Bankside has great availability by comparison and is easily searched and booked, and on most days is 50% off (from £97 per room per night, but £125 is fairly typical).

We’ve a huge amount we’re planning to add over the coming months over all aspects of Travel Industry Discounts. Oberoi’s Bali & Lombok

Although primarily renowned for their luxury hotels in India, the 5* hotel chain Oberoi Hotels have two little gems in Bali & Lombok. They are currently offering a Travel Trade Special Rate for these two properties for Indonesia’s low season (November through March). Although low season does coincide with the ‘rains’ – these predominantly fall in January & February – but even then at a fraction of what you might find in other monsoon hit areas of Asia. November is especially is a lovely time to hit these islands in Indonesia’s ‘Ring of Fire’.

We especially recommend the gorgeous resort of the Oberoi Lombok, sat as on it’s own private beach overlooking the Gili Islands (perfect for combining with some snorkelling or even recovering from a full moon party on Gili Trawangan!).

At first glance the rates do not look too special – a flat US$250, with consumer rates on their website around US$315 after tax – but most direct bookings do not include a lavish breakfast which will put you back another US$20 each. The two day maximum stay seems rather ungenerous, but both Bali & Lombok are made for exploring!

However, these are undoubtably wonderful 5* hotels that will be the highlight of your stay. Also Upgrades to Higher Room Categories are offered subject to availability at check-in – and in the low season you’d be unlucky to not get an upgrade.
